In Loving Memory of Sally Park Teelon

Sally Ann (Sandy) Park-Teelon, 73, passed away peacefully on 2 Sep 2015 after a brief battle with cancer. Sandy was born on 27 Feb 1942 in Norwich, NY to Alexander and Frances Park. She grew up in Plymouth and Mt. Upton, NY. She was predeceased by her eldest son Christopher and is survived by her sons Michael (Sharron) Teelon of Texas and David (Susan) Teelon of Wisconsin, four grandchildren, Elizabeth of Florida, Alexander of Wisconsin, Caitlyn, of Wisconsin and Cassidy of Texas and one great grandchild, Landen of Florida.

Sandy lived a full life with numerous accomplishments. She worked as a Respiratory Therapist, EMT and firefighter in NY before moving to Indianapolis in 1988. She worked at various hospitals as a Certified/Registered Respiratory Therapist. Sandy managed the Respiratory Care department for Putnam County Hospital from Dec 1989-2007, when she retired. She was appointed as a member of the Indiana Respiratory Care Committee by Gov. Bayh in Sep 1995, and served until Dec 2010. During this time, she served on Ivy Tech Community College Respiratory Care Board of Advisors. In addition, she was appointed as a BLS Regional Faculty for the Indiana Region of American Heart Association.

Sandy dedicated, and lovingly, devoted thousands of hours to law enforcement. She graduated from Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) in 1997 and spent over 18 years with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department (MCSD) and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), along with Indiana Department of Homeland Security. She was honored with many certificates of appreciation and commendations. In addition, she was nominated several times and achieved recognition as Marion County Sheriff’s Reserve Officer of the Year in 2005. While with the MCSD, she supervised the Reserve Wagon platoon. She merged with IMPD as Sergeant and in 2013 became Captain of the Civilian Volunteer Police unit until her death. We are all thankful for her unwavering and steadfast commitment.

Sandy was a mentor to many and well respected by all who knew her. Her family and friends will miss her greatly.
